Camp Information: See the camp website www.ctrivers.org/Camping/JuneNorcrossWebsterScoutReservation/ for more information pertaining to summer camp, and www.meritbadge.org for descriptions and requirements for all the merit badges offered. Tip for success: once merit badge decisions are made, reserve the merit badge pamphlets with the Troop Librarian or purchase them at the Scout Store. Read the requirements before going to camp and check for pre-requisites listed on camp information (see Merit Badge Program & Scoville Scale and Merit Badge Prerequisites below).
Ø Troop Registration Form, handed in with payment
Ø BSA Annual Health and Medical Record (updated for 2014)
* Part A, B (two pages), C and D are required
* Part C physician signature only may be substituted by a SIGNED State of Connecticut blue form; Signature needs to be after 6/29/13; top of Part C still needs to be completed
* Copy of Insurance Card (front and back)
* Be sure to include date of Tetanus shot (must be within past 10 years)
Ø Medication Authorization form and Allergy Treatment form - separate pages may be attached to Part B of the health forms if additional space is needed. One form per medication, if separate sheet is used.
Ø Merit Badge Sign-Up
The troop offers the convenience of having an RN review health forms prior to camp, and the health forms are delivered to JNW the week prior to the troop arriving. This process saves everyone a long wait in line and potential of your son being turned away from camp the first day! Please note the deadlines and policies.
First Class Path: This is a specialty program recommended for scouts who are attending JNW for the first time. See the description (attached) for the scout skills and badge focus provided.
Trail to Eagle: Trail to Eagle week is a specialty camp for scouts close to Eagle rank. This year, the troop is attending the same week at JNW so all troop scouts may take advantage of the extra merit badges being offered. T2E scouts have the option to tent with the troop, or at the T2E campsite. There is an additional $15 charge for tenting with T2E.
Years of experience have proven that it is crucial that we maintain a 1 adult: 5 scouts ratio for a positive, safe and productive camp experience. We estimate approximately 15 scouts attending camp this year, which means we need at least 3 adults at camp at all times. Please consider volunteering a day, night or more to support our scouts – and have a great time enjoying summer and the outdoors! The troop covers the camp cost of adult volunteers, but please note that health forms are required for any adult staying overnight. As with the campers, the physician signature on the forms must be dated after 6/29/13.
If you are able to help, or have questions about volunteering, please see Tom or Danielle. Thank you!
